Is Diet is Enough to Heal Autism?

Is Diet is Enough to Heal Autism?

Is diet is enough to heal autism? The Autism Diagnosis My son used to be autistic. Note I said “used” to be. He was diagnosed with autism when he was three, but today is a happy, friendly, and incredibly bright six year old boy who attends 2nd grade in a private school – without an aid.  I’m sure I can answer some pressing questions you have right away before I get into the meat of this post. #1 No, autism recovery isn’t easy. #2 Yes, sometimes diet can be enough. #3 No, it wasn’t enough for my son. My son’s autism was triggered by the MMR vaccine, but there were other issues that contributed to his condition as well. To hear more about Aaron’s story and his road to recovery, watch this video Healing My Son’s Autism.  Today, as I previously mentioned, Aaron is doing remarkably well. All in all, my child is 95% recovered and it all started with GAPS diet. The Autism Diet Trap Before I found the GAPS diet, I spent almost a year (and a fortune) on the GFCF diet. This is a diet you should avoid at all costs. Read GFCF Diet compared to GAPS diet here. The gist of it was that the GFCF diet which seemed to help for about a month…but after 10 months he was far worse than when he was initially diagnosed. I did the GFCF diet perfectly that year, and yet we had achieved nothing but an unreachable and constantly tantruming resemblance of a child. He was so bad that leaving the house with him was impossible, and...
Specific Carbohydrate Diet vs GAPS for Autism Recovery

Specific Carbohydrate Diet vs GAPS for Autism Recovery

Trying to decode all the special diets for autism recovery can really fry your brain.  I must admit, I’ve burned quite a few brain cells due to spontaneous combustion from late night reading.  But what else is a parent to do when we’ve got to find answers!?!  This article dives into the Specific Carbohydrate Diet vs GAPS for Autism Recovery. Those of you who know my story, know I used the amazing GAPS diet to recovery my son Aaron. Check out Aaron’s story about recovering with the GAPS Diet here. But I didn’t stop studying autism diets once I started GAPS . It’s actually the opposite.  Once we started GAPS, I started studying because I was finally able to understand why some diets work and other don’t. One of those BIG ONES is the GFCF (Gluten Free Casein Free) diet.  I think of all the autism diets out there, this one is the most well-known. And, thanks to the advances of processed food production, it now also causes the most damage. To learn more about the GFCF diet and how it stacks up to GAPS diet which is what I used for my son, read Autism Diets – GFCF Compared to GAPS. In summary, just beware that GFCF diet generally refers to a method of eating which allows you to eat anything that says GFCF on the label. This dietary approach is dangerous. Mind you, if you follow a GFCF diet which also disallows processed foods, you will have yourself a very different diet. Any wise and experienced health practitioner will warn you of this GFCF food trap. So, if you...

Autism Treatment: Diagnosis and Recovery Using the GAPS Diet & More – Book

My book Autism Treatment: Diagnosis and Recovery Using the GAPS Diet & More is officially a #1 best seller! Here’s some information about it and a link to it on Amazon. I hope you find it inspiring, insightful, and full of great information that you can use right away. What is the Autism Treatment book about? This book is about my son’s onset of autism and my family’s journey to heal him. My mission in writing this book is to share a powerful message with the world. My message is this: Wake up, people. Autism is just one of a thousand debilitating and heartbreaking illnesses that our children are being diagnosed with today, and it is our own fault. After my son, Aaron, was diagnosed with autism at age three, I have had to travel an expensive and painful road that proves without a doubt that autism is not only treatable, but also preventable. I know that statement might make many people angry, but I do not have time to care about that. I have one life to live and I am going to make it the best life I can. That means being willing to take responsibility for my mistakes, regardless of blame. My children are the most important things in the world to me, and I intend to teach them something while I have time on this earth. I wrote this book to show them through my living example the importance of life. Life is precious. Life is a gift. But what happens when we start compromising the quality of our children’s lives before they even get a...
Autism Diets – GFCF Compared to GAPS

Autism Diets – GFCF Compared to GAPS

There are a lot of popular diets trending for autism treatment. One of the most common is the gluten-free, casein- free. In fact, when my son was first diagnosed with autism we started him on the classic GFCF diet…very much to his detriment. I hadn’t yet heard of GAPS, but when I finally did I was sold.  GAPS explained every reason why GFCF failed.  We got started and never looked back. Since then, I’ve found that vast majority of people I meet know what GFCF is and they make the mistake of thinking that GAPS is the same thing. GFCF and GAPS are not the same thing.  I will even go so far as to say that one will help you and the other will hurt you. In this article, I aim to provide a side-by-side comparison of the two diets with the ultimate goal of encouraging you to keep your distance from the GFCF trend. Here it is: Autism Diets – GFCF Compared to GAPS. Gut and Psychology Syndrome (GAPS) vs Gluten-free, Casein-Free Diet (GFCF) The GAPS diet clearly differs from GFCF in three ways: GAPS does not allow refined sugars or starchy foods like potatoes, rice, and corn, which are the foundation of the GFCF diet. The foundation of the GAPS diet is gelatin-rich bone broths and home-fermented probiotic foods. GFCF diet allows you to shop in the healthy living isle of the grocery store, consuming anything that states GFCF on the label. GAPS does not allow consumption of pre-made, store-bought food convenience foods. Everything must be made at home with organic, quality ingredients. GFCF never allows dairy...
